Unit: Principles and Elements

Warm Up-
Monday-  In 3 sentences or more explain dominance
Tuesday-  In 3 sentences or more explain balance
Wednesday-  In 3 sentences or more explain focal point.
Thursday-  In 3 sentences or more explain pattern.
Friday-  In 3 sentences or more explain space.  
Instruction
Monday-  We will finish our class discussion over all of the principles and elements.  
Tuesday-  I will explain the principles and elements final project and then students will have the rest of the class to work on their final projects.
Wednesday-  After the warm up we will talk about the project and answer any questions and then students will be given the rest of class to work on their projects.
Thursday-  We will put up 2 arrangements and students and I will have a class discussion discussing all of the principles of each of these.  

Friday-  We will discuss where to turn in your final projects and how I expect presentation of the arrangements to be done.

Monday-  There will be a sub.  Students will be asked to write a ¾ page essay over their floral arrangements done on Friday.

 

Tuesday-  In your opinion what is the most important aspect of floral design and why?
Wednesday-  Write the definition for the following words

  1. Shape
  2. Texture
  3. Size

Thursday-  What do you find to be more important in arrangement and why balance or fragrance?
Friday- Work on Floral Arrangement assignment form the day before.

Monday-  There will be a sub.  Students will be asked to write a ¾ page essay over their floral arrangements done on Friday.
Tuesday-  We will begin our principles and elements of floral design unit.  This will begin by students creating a quizlet over the vocabulary terms and preparing for a vocab quiz on Wednesday.
Wednesday-  We will review for the vocabulary quiz using grudgeball.  We will then take our vocabulary quiz on google forms.
Thursday-  We will cover segments 1&2 of the principles and elements icev videos
Friday-  We will watch part 4.  We will skip the color section since we have already covered it earlier in the year.

Warm Up-
Monday-  Explain one floral tool that you know of and tell me why it is important?
Tuesday-  Would you feel more comfortable using the knives or the scissors and why?
Wednesday-  In groups using items around the room create your own water tube.
Thursday-  Explain the purpose of floral foam.
Friday-  Which gauge wire is larger 20-18
Instruction
Monday-  The vocabulary handout will be posted on google classroom.  Students will have to take notes on the slides that include knives, scissors, wire cutters, and pruning shears.
**Remind students about a vocabulary quiz on Wednesday

Tuesday–  Present the slides that include adhesives, water tubes, and clay.
Wednesday-  Present the slides that include anchor pins and ribbons.  
Thursday-  New Horizons packets and Floral Tpo
Friday-  Floral design assessment will be given.  Students will also have to have their Floral Preservative Projects, and Floral Design Tools Activity will be due on this day.

Monday-  Students will be given their Floral Design Tools Project
Tuesday-  Students will create a vocabulary foldable to use to study for their vocabulary quiz on Wednesday.

Students will be given the Floral Preservative Project.  This will allow students to research a particular ingredient in Floral Preservative and explain why it is the most important ingredient.

Friday-  Creative Accents assignment.  Students will be given wire and asked to create a creative accent out of that particular wire.

Warm UP
Monday-  What is one career that you are interested in and why?
Tuesday-  What is the career you have chosen for your career research project.
Wednesday-  Make a to do list on what’s left on your career research projects.  
Thursday- Create a to do list on what is left on your career research projects to be presented tomorrow.
Friday-  Prepare for your presentation.
Instruction
Monday- Friday
Tuesday-  I will discuss how to present a presentation.  What that means is not just reading off of the slides.  Doing more than just adding pictures and explaining what those picture mean.
The instruction this week will be done by the students.  They will be presenting their career projects as they finish them.  I will then answer any questions students may have and add any information that they have maybe missed.  
Practice
Monday-Friday
Students will spend their classtime this week creating a detailed 20 slide presentation to present to the class.  This will need to be over a career in Floral Design other than a florist.  They will be graded twice a week on their progress to make sure students are completing their work.  When they have finished they will need to present that to the class.

Unit: Color Wheel

TEKS:  

Warm Up (5 minutes)
Monday-  Write one paragraph explaining the emotion that yellow green makes you feel.  
Tuesday-  Answer the following 3 questions

  1. Blue- Green is an example of what type of color.
  2. List the 3 primary colors
  3. Explain analogous colors

Wednesday-  Post a picture on the classroom of an example of a warm color.

 

Thursday-  Answer the following 3 questions.

  1. What is a chroma?
  2. What is a netural color?
  3. What is shade?

Friday-  Write one paragraph explaining your upcoming weekend.  What colors do you think you will see the most and why?

Instruction: (15 minutes)
Monday-  We will discuss the color powerpoint chromatic colors, achromatic colors, neutral colors, advancing colors, and warm colors.  
Tuesday-  We will finish our color wheel unit by discussing cool colors.  Make sure to discuss the difference in all of the advancing,warm, and cool colors.
Wednesday-  We will review for part of our test.  This includes drawing the color wheel, identifying primary secondary, and tertiary colors.
Thursday-  We will review hue, chromas, shades and tints.  Friday-  Explain to students how the test will work and answer any review questions they may have.
Guided Practice
Monday-  Using their chromebooks students will need to research floral arrangements of examples of advancing colors that just don’t work together.
Tuesday-  Verbally review with students what warm and advancing colors are.
Wednesday- Friday-  Review for parts of the test split up into 3 sections.
